The African Research League is an association of physicians of African descent that was formed in 2012 with the primary goal of advancing scientific progress in Africa through the promotion of biomedical and clinical research on the continent by engaging medical students, residents, and faculty in inter-professional research projects.
The priority of the League is to fund small to medium-sized hypothesis-driven research projects that address prevalent health issues in Africa, and the innovative approaches to overcome these challenges.
Members of the League oversee all aspects of the grant initiative program from the review of proposals through monitoring of funded projects to assistance with manuscript preparation and publication.
This hands-on approach ensures accountability, transparency, and the promotion of mentoring of trainees by senior scientists and physicians in Africa and abroad. The League’s aspiration isto translate state-of- the-art approaches to research in Africa.
